My first week consisted of 3 shadow days and 4 official days on the job. I assist preschoolers with lunch, recess, and rest time 3 days a week, and K-8 lunch one day a week. This has me interacting with practically every student at the school and gives me a lot of funny memories to take back home with me. Let's review a few of my favorite moments of my first week.
When a boy in preschool who doesn't understand English very well kept getting in trouble and every time I asked him if he knew why he was in time out he would say "Because I PUSH PUSH!" in his adorable little accent.
Every single preschooler who tries to pronounce my last name!
Breaking up a girl fight between the preschool girls because they were fighting over who gets to hold the new teacher's hand (me).
When I was shadowing and I didn't know how to get back to the classroom after indoor recess and I had 30 preschoolers giving me directions at once..
Shadowing for lunch duty and a fifth grade boy says "Hello! Who are you, and welcome to Hell!"
When I had to settle a dispute between 2 first grade boys because one of them called a presidential candidate a "jork".
When the 5th grade boys remember me and look over at me nervously so I wave at them and all of them "girly wave" back with big smiles on their faces.
Circling the 5th grade boys table and staring them down until they freaked out.
When the same 5th grade boy who welcomed me the week prior learns that I'm not a teenager and am allowed to vote because I'm 23 and tells me "you look really good for your age!"
I seriously love these kids so much and cannot wait to create more hilarious and adorable memories with them!
