I haven't written in a while due to being sick and barely functioning, but boy do I have tiny human stories to tell!
First of all, I have found my little person doppelganger, she is the same as I was at her age, and gives me a hug every 5 mins. As I did when I was young.
Secondly, I found out the fifth grade boy who cracks me up is my coworkers son. Score one for me!
This same boy also asked if I was married. I said no, and his friends said "we're not even old enough anyways!" I walked away..
I also saw a third grade boy in the hall who was very pumped that I was the lunch chaperone for the day, and when I asked him and his group why they were so excited, they said because I am the funnest and youngest lunch lady. However, one of the boys decided to test my limits, and when I asked him if he was testing me he replied "yes..haha just kidding" so naturally I said "hahaha...2 mins off recess" and the whole table's jaw's dropped. It was one of my favorite moments.
One of my little preschoolers tried to convince me to never play another Veggie Tales movie ever again.
I consoled a child over a devastating battle against his dream of sliding down the fireman pole on the playground and his terrible fear of heights. He cries and tells me "I just want to go down the pole, but I'm scared of heights! And before you know I'm going to be six...and in KINDERGARTEN...and I'll NEVER slide down the pole..EVER!" I assured him the pole will not go anywhere and he still has a whole year to practice everyday before he goes to Kindergarten...which probably has a pole as well.
A little girl at recess proclaimed it was my birthday and made me a woodchip birthday cake and proceeded to sing me happy birthday...but only she could blow out the candle.
I shadowed first grade today and they all recognized me from lunch duty. I overheard a boy say "I wish she was the lunch person everyday" and my heart melted. I also came to the conclusion I must be one awesome lunch chaperone...but also questioned if I'm doing something wrong for them to love me so much. What have they been doing that I don't know...
I was scolded twice for saying "oh my gosh" by the same little girl. She was very displeased with me and disgusted by my choice of words.
Lastly, today I received 4 compliments on a necklace I was wearing...all by little boys, one who looked completely hypnotized, wide eyed, and said slowly, "I...really...like...your...neck..a...lace." Thanks kid, lets head back to the classroom for naptime.
I seriously cannot wait until I have a classroom of my own. I love it so much! <3
